Growing a good company culture in a remote team that’s spread across more than 5 countries and 2 continents is hard!

Here at BigBangThemes, we can’t accept anything less than perfect when it comes to the quality of our products. This is why finding the right candidate for a job position can sometimes be a tough, perhaps even daunting task. Tie that together with trying to find one within the borders of our home country, and you have a huge problem on your hands.

Thankfully we were able to outgrow this problem, and don’t need to settle for the second best candidate ever since we discovered Hubstaff. For us here, at BigBangThemes using a time tracking service is not about micro managing employees and making them feel like they’re part of a new series of “Big Brother”. It’s about increasing productivity and making sure that the team is focused, while also being able to offer our collaborators the flexibility that everybody wishes for in their dream job.

How Hubstaff increased our team’s productivity and creativity

We love traveling, we love the outdoors and we love freedom. That’s why we don’t insist on having our employees gathered at our offices all the time, and love to see them work from all parts of the world.

Before we discovered Hubstaff we were confined between the walls of our offices, and while that makes it easier for the team manager to have a quick chat with everybody and fix issues in real time, we found that overall the productivity was not great and that the team lacked focus sometimes. Should I even mention that we are a web development company that comes up with the best newsletter designs and innovative coding techniques? How can you even get creative when you’re in the office all the time? Exactly, you can’t!

One of the main reasons we fell in love with Hubstaff is because they offered us the ability to stay united and work together without having to be in the same place at the same time every day Monday through Friday. Now everybody who works at BBT has the ability to complete their hours as they like, during weekends or holidays, or simply spreading them across the day as they see fit.

This has massively boosted the creativity of our designers and the productivity of our coders. Everything goes smoother when you feel ready to work, and everything takes 10 times more time than it should when you just don’t feel up to the task. And we’ve all had those days!

Having better, easier payroll

The payroll has been much easier since we implemented Hubstaff as well. While before we had to go back & forth between the manager and the employees to make sure that all hours add up, now we can easily check the hours and complete payments within a few simple clicks.

We don’t only use Hubstaff for those who work and travel, but also for everybody in the office from managers to coders and designers. We found that it helps everybody be more focused and have a clearer perception of the amount of work they’ve done, and the amount of time they’ve lost being distracted by emails or social activities like chatting, Facebook, etc. We couldn’t have been happier with the choice we’ve made. It helped us optimize a large array of issues and improve on many aspects and made us an overall more productive and united group.
